Business Week has come out with a state-by-state list of best places to raise kids. In N.C., it's Jacksonville, home to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and in S.C. it's Rock Hill. Rock Hill got props for "some of the best public schools in the state" and for being home to Winthrop University.

Rock Hill? I would hate my parents if they made me grow up in Rock Hill. If you want your kid to be a narrow minded redneck then move to Rock Hill. Maybe it will change for the better one day, but as of right now Rock Hill sucks.

You would think Rock Hill wouldn't be so redneck. I mean, it is only 15-20 minutes from Charlotte and all the people there have access to education, job opportunities, and everything else Charlotte has to offer yet it is like a completely different world. I just think it is strange... and I would never raise my children there.

I've lived and traveled throughout the US, Europe, and South America. I also hold undergrad and graduate degrees from two of the most highly selective universities un the country. The fact of the matter is that modern day carpetbaggers have ruined many cities in the South, including Charlotte, by turning them into places just like the northeastern hell holes that those carpetbaggers were trying to escape!
As a NC native who ALSO has lived in many states, another country, and also attended some highly selective universities...hmmm, for some reason I don't remember a time when we all lived in trailers and went to buffets. Oh that's right, because we didn't.
Apparently, you Northerners came down and taught us how to live? I opened my mind by learning from all people, and in turn they learned about my background. Can't we all just respect eachother for our backgrounds, and stop judging?

I can tell by your comments that you are lying about your background. A well traveled person would know that Charlotte is nothing like those "hoooorrible" northeastern cities. Charlotte barely has 2 million people in its metro area. It is nothing but a medium sized city (or an overgrown country town) at best. Don't fool yourselves.
And before you start blaming the people moving here (like they are all banning together to change things? I mean really... HAHAHA), why don't you look at your own local officials, developers, etc (who are mostly southern) that allow all this "terrrrrible" growth. Also, don't forget to blame the companies that decide to move here (bringing those "evil carpetbaggers" with them), that pump money into the local economy.

Look we are sorry we fought you in the civil war: I wished we Yankees would not have won. The Southern Culture is getting snuffed out and we need to polarize our NORTHERN culture to ourselves; Most Souhtern women are curious as how we make love and what foods we eat and what wines we drink but thee is a culture gap. I think Virginia women are more acceptable to OHIO men and Wone from Charleston are more receptive to People from the North. Some cultures are not to be made fo together. Id like to suggest Northerners all move to the North of Charlotte and Southerners move to the South end. Northerners can get home faster for Thanksgiving and Christmas and Hanuka and others things.

And I don't buy that you are a highly educated, well traveled person. Sometimes, when people are typing fast, they misspell words. I don't look over my posts for grammatical/spelling errors. This isn't English class. If you want to hold it against me because I accidently spelt banding "banning" than you 1. have issues and 2. have absolutely nothing else to say. I don't know who wrote the other comment, but people from all over this country aren't going to stop coming here so get a life, get over yourself, and get used to it. Places change! Even those evil northern cities have changed and gotten bigger! They just experienced their growth spurts a lot earlier. People and businesses move around. This isn't some new concept. You can either embrace it and see the positives in it or continue to be the miserable, ignorant, sorry person that you are.
I choose option 3 - complain about the yankees and make their lives as miserable as possible. If I can convince even one yankee not to live in the South then my time has been well spent.

As a matter of I'd prefer that the rest of the country think that Southerners are a bunch of stupid racists, that the South is ungodly hot and humid, and that the skies here are thick with bugs. Maybe then you carpetbaggers would quit moving here.
Goodness - hope I don't regret relocating to the area. I have lived my entire life in CA, raised by parents from the South and always loved the warm feeling I get whenever I visit here. Don't make me regret my decision.

Look AMy this is a war board not a blog; Lets face it Southerners spend more time envious over our BMWs and Ballantyne houses that are paid off. Look we had UNIONS up north thats the problem down here , no UNIONS in the Government ; Most of us made good money and the houses were not so exspensive as they are here now. Something needs to be done on the housing side. Look average pay for POLICE in N.C. should be $65,000 a year like all the towns up in Freezer box land.
