I'm away for the Easter weekend, visiting a friend in Cincinnati. While driving around today, I noticed the Queen City signs around town -- with a crown, like those in Charlotte. I'd temporarily forgotten that Cincinnati also calls itself the Queen City.
What or who put the Queen in each city?
Charlotte and Mecklenburg County are each named for Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg, German wife of King George III.
Cincinnati was dubbed the Queen of the West -- or simply the Queen City -- after rapid growth in the 1800s made it one of the first big inland cities in the U.S.
Which city earned the moniker first? I don't know. My friend and I are guessing Cincinnati. If you know the answer, post it here. I'll look into it when I return. Until then, happy holiday weekend.

Amy I am from Columbus and was a regular in CINCINNATI; As you know very early on Chilicothe was the Capital of Ohio at one time; Cincinnati was a River port and 'TALL STACKS' with all the river boats still visits everytwo years. QUEEN CHARLOTTE and todays Queen Elizabeth still own land in Ohio and North Carolina and they own the township shares of Charlotte; This was explainedto me by 'LORD JOHN BROWN of Mattingley , England . I suspect that a British Empire Queen had holdings in Cincinnati as well.Anytime you see a Queens crown that is owned by the House of Windsor for three hundred years.
Think about the word ' COMMON WEALTH and see what states are included, Massachuesetts, Kentucky, Virginia and one more I cant remember right now , but why are they called 'COMMON WEALTH' and not other States called that? Something to do with the Brtish Empire Im sure now.
I did a thesis in School and the Britsh Empire owns %90 percent of all corporation in the U.S. ,and it would be easier to tell you what they dont own! But normally when it is a Queen city the 'House of Windsor' owns the Township shares like the Streets , Parks and right of ways ,so on and so forth,

And lets face it the Everybody is POLARIZED in this city; New Yorks, New Jersey, California, Ohioans and now People from other Planets are coming here and trying to bully or supercede the other group; One group is trying to dominate the other in everything; In other words People are coming here trying to cook you their food or do things their way; Which is the right way? Is it POTATOE or POTATO? Lets face it its a Psychological game going on here with a mixed culture.
Not sure who was first Charlotte/Cincinnati, but I do know I grew up in the "Queen City" and that was Buffalo, NY. Generally refered to as the Queen City of the Great Lakes. I always heard of Cinncy as being the Queen City of the Ohio River.
They may name a city QUEEN after a certain amount of GAYS arrive; That how San Franthisco got its name QUEEN city; When I lived there I saw no Gays , of course I had to stand tip toe over my boy freinds should while dancing;
